"I spend a lot of time in Suffolk painting the coast around Bawdsey, many of my paintings witness the erosion and constant movement of the beautiful landmarks and landscapes which are rapidly disappearing and constantly changing."

Suffolk Coastal Remains Paintings
The subject of climate change and it's effects on our coasts is of increasing importance.
The damage caused to the Suffolk coastline is the greatest in Europe. Caroline is the silent recorder of the eroding East Anglian coast of the UK. |
"Sadly, Suffolk is particularly being affected by erosion and I am attempting to record these changes."
|
Suffolk Coastline PaintingsCaroline works in and around the Suffolk coastline near Bawdsey.
Her studies include the ever changing sea, flowing estuaries, the threatened coastal buildings, sea kale, sailing boats, shingle and groynes. |
"I take my painting kit out in most weathers and have to fight the elements, the tides and the wind to paint my subjects. I go out many times at the same time of day on each occasion to capture similar light."
|
Suffolk Tree PaintingsCaroline captures the individual personalities of Suffolk trees in the unique light of each season.
Survivors of at times brutal weather conditions there is something vulnerable about these coastal guardians that help to bind the battered shoreline together. |
"I love painting trees along the eroding coast line of Suffolk,
there are still a few beautiful pines left."
there are still a few beautiful pines left."

Suffolk Landscape PaintingsSometimes Caroline focuses her attention slightly inland, away from the sea as a sky, field of grass or reed bed interests her. One ponders if these are perhaps views that will one day be lost.
